Everything You Need to Know Before Traveling to Morocco

Plan your journey with guidance from those who experience Moroccan daily life firsthand. Practical information for a safe, comfortable, and unforgettable trip.

Prepare for the Exotic with Peace of Mind

Traveling to Morocco means immersing yourself in a world of unique sensations. However, for this immersion to be perfect, certain logistical and cultural details are essential. We have gathered our clients’ main questions here so that you only have to focus on enjoying every moment.

Documents and Visas

  • Passport: It must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.

  • Visas: Brazilians, Portuguese citizens, and European Union citizens do not need a visa for tourism purposes (stays of up to 90 days).

  • Travel Insurance: Although it is not legally required, it is highly recommended and is part of our safety protocols for all Olá Marrocos clients.

Currency and Payments

  • Currency: It is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD).

  • Currency Exchange: Currency exchange is easily done at airports and exchange offices in the cities. We always recommend having cash on hand for small purchases in souks.

  • Cards: International credit cards are accepted at hotels and upscale restaurants, but using global debit cards (such as Wise or Nomad) is an excellent option for convenience.

When to Go: The Best Weather

Morocco is a year-round destination, but each season has its own charm:

  • Spring (March to May) and Fall (September to November): The golden seasons. Mild temperatures and stunning landscapes.

  • Winter: Sunny days and cold nights (especially in the desert). Ideal for seeing the contrast between the snow in the Atlas Mountains and the dunes.

  • Summer: Intense heat inland. A great time to explore the coastline, such as Essaouira.

What to Pack

Respecting the local culture is a way to connect.

  • Light and Modest Clothing: Natural fabrics such as linen and cotton are ideal. We recommend avoiding very short clothing in public and religious places.

  • Footwear: Prioritize comfort. You will be walking through historic medinas and sand dunes.

  • In the Desert: Remember that the temperature drops drastically at night; a quality warm layer is essential.

Connectivity and Health

  • Licensed Guides: We work only with professionals authorized by the Ministry of Tourism, ensuring accurate historical information.

  • No Language Barriers: Our guides are fluent in English, allowing you to ask questions and understand every cultural detail.

  • Privileged Access: “Skip the lines” and enjoy access to the best photo spots and the most authentic artisan shops (far from tourist traps).

  • Customization: Want to focus on architecture? Gastronomy? Shopping? The guide adapts the itinerary to your interests.
